In 1980 Rafter J Western World was established by Jim and Jeanie Cavanagh. The store is located in Warrensburg, New York (on Route 9, just off Exit 23 in the heart of the wonderful Adirondack Mountains 5 miles north of the breathtaking Lake George). There is a palomino horse on the roof of the store which has become an area landmark. The horse is an homage to Jim's horse, Pete of Yesteryear. Jim passed away in 2000.
We are located on what is known as the dude ranch trail, which in its day there were over 20 very popular dude ranches. Now there are just three left - 1000 Acres Ranch and Folf Course, Ridin Hy Ranch, and Roaring Brook Ranch.
Our goal from day one was to offer the best selection of western wear in the area. As we are located in a very horse minded part of the country, we feature a wide range of collections of hats, boots, belts, shirts, jewelry and gift items for the entire family. Just 30 minutes south of us is Saratoga, home of the very famous Saratoga Race Course, with extensive horse activity year round.
